Tawau is a town in the southeast corner of the east Malaysian state of Sabah, one of two Malaysian states on the island of Borneo. It is the third largest town in Sabah after Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan. In 2010, the population of Tawau was estimated at around 113,000 people in the town itself, and almost 400,000 people in the entire municipality.
